What are Green-lipped Mussels?

How do they work?

Green-lipped Mussels don’t need to be fed! As filter feeders, they naturally sustain themselves by filtering food from the ocean, primarily phytoplankton. Phytoplankton are microscopic plankton that photosynthesize like plants. These microscopic plankton thrive in billions but too much can be bad for the marine ecosystem. Through filter feeding Green-lipped Mussels are aiding in managing their population.
